    IIT-Berhampur for Development with Justice
Today South Orissa is synonimous with Somalia, as it is in news for two reasons: AIDS and Hunger. How the state can shut its eyes towards an underdeveloped region and inflict underdevelopment with such impunity. If IIT is again taken to BBSR or the state govt. given into the blackmailing techniques of Sambalpur, than on this very Utkal Divas, the Oriyas must hang their heads in shame.

While I share the sentiment expressed by Mr. Biswanath. There is bitter element of truth why IIT like institute should be located where infrastructure is good and likely to be better in a continual basis. Initially, IIT Guwahati was planned to be located at a place called Misha (apparently under constituency of Prafulla Mahanta). Had been located there it would not have come to level that it is now. Even otherwise IIT Guwahati is languishing behind. IIT Kharagpur and IIT Kanpur already experiencing problem of location. An institute is depends on faculty. You can not expect competent people to choose place where life is difficult when they have choices. If IIT Orissa is to compete with IIT Kharagpur locate it in Bhubaneswar and no where else.
