Alleged rogues, High Court, Jajpur, Jajpur Rd- Vyasanagar- Duburi- Kalinganagar, Jindal, Sambada (in Odia), Steel, Thermal April 7th. 2009, 9:45pmFollowing is from Sambada. It reports that Jindal Steel of Kalinganagar is trying to give its extra power to its plant in Harayana against the agreement that the state of Orissa has the first rights to get that extra power. The Orissa high court was approached on this and it has put a stay order on this. Industrialists should realize that such attempt to steal from a state, that too a poor state like Orissa, is what gives the whole conecpt of industrailization a bad name.

Yes it,s true that Jindal is trying to cheat Orissa. In that plant no one from Orissa is posted in manegerial posts. So it,s becoming quite difficult to know that how dedicated Jindal is towards Orissa. Our state government shoult be tough enough to interfare in such sensitive matter in which our state economy,
state developement and state employment involves.

It would have happened sooner or later Industrialists always care for their business though outwardly show up for working for local development.Government should have control over it and it should be ensured that any comany not working against the odiya people self.If we had local industrialist these type of monopoly of outsider company could have reduced for some extent.

let us not jump to any quick conclusions on this. Remember that the power is not being sold. Jindal is using it for its other plant. If the legal documents mention that using power generated in Orissa was not allowed, then it is a case of cheating. But if it only meant that Orissa would have first rights over the electricity sold by Jindal, then Jindal has done nothing wrong.
Though if Jindal has knowingly setup a power plant which produces way more power than required by its plant, then Jindal should be forced to sell the extra power to the state govt.

The Sambada article does say that Jindal is *selling* extra power to its plant in Harayana.
