This a welcome move. I believe mathematics institute can become a center of excellence if right decisions are taken at the top. Model it along the lines of CMI, Chennai or HRI, Allahabad initially and build itup gradually to start a strong UG programme.

I too welcome the move.
I wonder if the focus will be on research, or math awareness/education/olympiads. While the latter is fine, making it a world class education for academic research would create far-reaching benefits, one of the many steps required to usher Bhubaneswar/Odisha into the forefront of global R&D.

Yes, it is nice to see that Orissa Govt. has been started such a good institute. But the major problem is that its Governing Council Chiarman Prof. Gokulananda Das. He has been playing politics for his vested interest. He was Prof. in Utkal Univ. U can ask any old students…and verify his teaching. Hardly, he used to take 10 classes per courses. Most of the students suffered. He changed the rule of Utkal University so that his Son was Topper with only final year marks of M.Sc. He did not informed in any class about TOFEL or GRE so that students can go abroad. But he sent his Son through TOFEL. I am not seeing any progress in the IMA as long as Prof. G. Das is its chairman of Governing council. Time has come to stop POLITICS pf Prof. G. Das.
Thanks…
