Second central university in Tamil Nadu to start functioning from this year: Orissa is far behind

The Hindu reported the following.
The Central University, Tiruvarur, will begin functioning from this year.
Since the Centre has come forward to commence the operations of the university, the government will identify temporary buildings to locate the university.
………..it was decided that expeditious action would be taken to identify and allot land to the Central University in Coimbatore and the Indian Institute of Management in Tiruchi.
NOTE: Orissa Govt. has not yet taken any initiative for the proposed second central university in the state. It seems Orissa Govt. is far behind regarding the second central university in the state compared to other states.

In my opinion the oldest University of Orissa, i.e., Utkal University should be upgraded to a Central University and only then the heritage of the University and its brand name could be restored.

Dear Patnaikbabu,
The proposed central university in Oirssa could be a greenfield new university.
Utkal and Sambalpur universities have been demanding central university status since more than a decade, but UGC has not yet responded.

Instead of making new central universities, the Central Govenment should upgrade existing state universities that satisfy the conditions be in Orissa or else where. This would help many Universities and also sustainable higher educational growth in our country. In many Universities, the student strength is reducing, in real terms, not as per paper statistics, so opening new and not caring of the existing is like doing puja for a new temple and allowing natural death to old existing historical shines.

LET US FLOOD THE ORISSA CHIEF MINISTER AND UNION HRD MINISTER’S OFFICE WITH LETTRS AND EMAILS BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. OTHERWISE THE SECOND CENTRAL UNIVERSITY WOULD GO TO SOME OTHER STATE. A PLACE LIKE ANUGUL MAY BE SUITABLE. WE CAN EVEN THINK OF UPGRADING SAMBALPU OR UTKAL UNIVERSITY TO A CENTRAL UNIVERSITY.
