KIMS has approval for 100 MBBS seats

Update on May 3 2007: So far this news has not appeared anywhere else. I wonder if it is true.
The running headline of Tathya.in says that the Medical Council of India has approved 100 seats for KIMS (Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences), a component of KIIT deemed university. It does not yet show up in the MCI list of MBBS colleges. More details are awaited.
Assuming this is true, the medical college situation in Bhuabaneswar-CTC-Puri area will be as follows:
- SCB Medical College, Cuttack (govt, operational, 150 MBBS seats)
- Hi-Tec Medical College, Bhubaneswar (pvt,operational, 100 MBBS seats)
- Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar (pvt, operational, 100 MBBS seats)
- SUM Hospital, Bhubaneswar (pvt, hospital operational, college close to getting MCI approval)
- Capital Hospital Medical College, Bhubaneswar (govt, announced)
- AIIMS-clone, Bhubaneswar (govt,being made)
- Vedanta University’s medical college, Puri (pvt, planned)
- Sri Sri Ravishankar’s university medical college, Cuttack (pvt, planned)
