IIT JEE 2009: Students passing qualifying exam before Oct 1 2007 are not eleigible
November 10th, 2008
The eligibility criteria has been made to discourage multi-year preparation for IIT JEE. To be eligible for IIT JEE 2009 students must NOT have passed their qualifying exam before Oct 1, 2007 and must not have taken admission to an IIT/IT-BHU/ISMU in the past by paying full fees. They must also have secured at least 60% in their qualifying exam. See details at the IIT JEE 2009 sites such as at IIT Guwahati.

“A strong educational system has been one of Tamil Nadu’s traditional strengths. There are, according to Velmurugan, 333 engineering colleges, 230 polytechnics and over 1,200 industrial training institutes churning out close to 300,000 technically qualified students every year. “Tamil Nadu produces 25 per cent of the country’s engineering graduates.” :
Even Andhra Pradesh has more than 300 engineering colleges.I think orissa should have close to 150 engineering colleges and we should produce close to 150,000 technically qualified people every year to catch up with Andhra and Tamil Nadu.Orissa has a population of 3.6 crores almost half of AP
and Tamil Nadu.Hence proportion would be the same if we reach a figure of 150,000 technical person / year mark.
I continue to harp on education because in the tight knit world of 21st century quality resources are in high demand everywhere. Therefore if the state fails in it’s duty to industrialize faster the least it can do is to provide universal access to education to it’s masses so that masses can fend for themselves. We need big investments in education, even at the cost of health. infrastructure etc.
