  Look at the open and close ranks. That should give you some idea.

  my orissa jee state general rank is 665.
  According to last years cutoffs i can get IT,CSE,CIVIL IN CET BBSR and CIVIL,CSE,IT and MECH IN UCE BURLA.

  I JUST WANTED TO KNOW THAT WHICH COLLEGE IS BETTER (AS I AN GETTING ALMOST THE SAME BRANCHES IN BOTH THE COLLEGES) IN TERMS OF ACADEMICS, INFRASTRUCTURE AND WHICH HAS MORE REPUTATION BECAUSE I WANTED TO PURSUE M.S. IN MY NEAR FUTURE.

  This year IIIT Bhubaneswar is starting B.Tech courses. See http://www.iiit-bh.in/ It could be a good alternative to CET and UCE. Similar, BIT, although private could be a good alternative to CET and UCE as BIT is being made by several top professors in the USA. See http://www.bit.edu.in/.

  your page number 37 and 38 is missing from data list. CET andIGIt are missed from the list so also many colleges are omitted because of it. please reload the missing pages with the data.

  hello sir
  could you just elaborate more on the advantages of joining IIIT BBSR rather than VSSUT burla. what due you expect will be the closing rank of iiit bbsr for all its program in state general category because my 665 in the above mentioned category.

  also sir how do you rate vssut burla in terms of academics , infrastructure ,atmosphere of competition and placement. Hope you will definitely answer my query.

  I think both VSSUT and IIIT Bhubaneswar have distinct advantages and there are some unknowns associated with both that make it difficult to say one is definitely better than the other for someone.

  Plus points of IIIT Bhubaneswar:

  1. Being in Bhubaneswar it may have better campus recruiting
  2. If it becomes part of the proposed 20 centrally funded IIITs then it will have a brand name. (There is effort being made to have a new centrally funded IIIT in Berhampur as well as have the IIIT Bhubaneswar also centrally funded.)
  3. Being in PPP mode it will have more flexibility.

  Plus points of VSSUT Burla

  1. It has better faculty now.
  2. Efforts are being made to make it an IIEST (Indian Inst of Eng Sciences and Tech). If that happens this will also be a brand name institute. Besides it is now one of three unitary engg/tech govt. state universities in the country. The other two are CUSAT and BESU.
  3. Its alumni are well known and are in high places in Orissa, India and abroad.
  4. Its fees may be less than IIIT.

  sir as you mentioned that efforts are being made to make vssut an IIEST then sir what are the chances(DEADLINE) of it being converted into IIEST. As i know that these thing mostly require political incentive.

  also sir according to you which college (vssut or iiit bbsr) would give a better platform for higher studies abroad.

  Your display of opening & closing ranks in ojee 2008 for admission in different colleges is quite helpful and guiding. But the same for Ojee2009 is not in this web site.Please continue to give it for all the years and help students in taking some decision.
