ITIs and Ekalabya Vidyalayas (VI-XII) in various tribal districts

In separate news 9 more poytechnics will be established in various districts of Orissa during the 11th plan and 7 more Ekalabya vidyalas (residential schools in tribal regions) will be established with classes from VI-XII and XI-XII will be added to the exisiting three Ekalabya Vidyalayas. Eight of the ITIs are reported to be established in the districts of Kalahandi, Koraput, Kandhamala, Nabarangpur, Boudh, Ganjam, Sambalpur and Balasore. The ninth will be located in either Nuapada or Sonepur. Each of these institutes will get 14 crores from the center. In the 10th plan a similarly funded ITI was to be established in Malkangiri. The seven new Ekalabya Vidyalayas with classes from VI-XII will be in Liang, Lahunipada and Bhabanipur of Sundargarh, Dhanghera in Mayurbhanj, Ranki in Keonjhar, Chandragiri in Gajapati and Malasinga in Kandhamal district. The exisiting three schools in Siriguda in Rayagda district, Pungar in Koraput district and Hirili in Nabarangpur district which had classes from VI to X will now also have +2. Apart from 14 Government ITIs and 10 women polytechnics, there are 147 private industrial training centres (ITCs) in the State. About 125 blocks of the State do not have ITIs and the State Government has already initiated a move to establish at least one in each block through private initiatives. The Government has also decided to set up a few special technical institutes in the State. While plumbing institute will be set up at Pattamundai in Kendrapara, Ganjam will have a special institute for gems and jewellery processing.
