The data given as 83 lacs is admitted to primary school every year in odisha, seems to be wrong,as total population of odisha itself is @ 400 lacs itself.
May be the author has given some statics and some facts like vedanta do not require that much land. But certainly to we require adavanced and technical knoweldge, which the odias can only get if the institutes are allowed to open.now chosing the engineering branch is a luxury to odia students.not like the case before 10 to 15 years back, when only < 1000 seats was available.
What ever the case may be,we can not develop our science books, our engineering coarses,or phd courses in our mother tounge.same is applicable to for out tribal friends having not as odia as mother toungue.
But we have to sacrifice something to go ahead and prospour.
Thanks and Regards

This article clearly explains the exact situation in Orissa. Its really very good. Some of the points in this article are matching with the comments on Vedanta by Debasis Mishra. Its a ground reality that, education is a wealthy affair now. For example, some private engineering/medical colleges in our state admits students who secured third division in +2 Sc because their parents have huge amount of money. On the contrary, some poor and bright students in our state are not getting money to buy an application form required appear for JEE etc.
Also if one go through the profile of faculties in some private eng. college, one can find most of the them did Btech/Mtech from the same college or MSc. Just to say most of the pvt. eng. colleges are not following AICTE or UGC norms. What type of quality education one can expect from these institutions……….
As pointed by Debasis, its speculative about Vedanta’s world class university as far as quality/reality is concerned. What Vedanta will do with 6000 hectares of land?? Only God can tell. Government and each responsible citizen should think of it.
After all, only money can not buy education.
If our Govt. is selling land to pvt. organizations like this in the name of globalization, after few years we may not have sufficient lands to construct govt. schools, hospital and other related establishments. Can you imagine!!
Anyway, we common people can only write, raise our voice against such issues but I am afraid whether our politician and bureaucrats will listen or not.
Now its the time for us to be more practical and concerned.
Thanks and regards,
