The CM also promised for an institute for Jems & Jewellery processsing and dimond cutting at Hinjilicut along with SIPM at Pattamundai. Hope he keeps his words. Lakhs of labourers from Ganjam work in these sectors outside the state and skill infusion may lead to jewellery processssing industries coming to Ganjam apaaart from promoting local entreprenuers.

As I understand from the above description, the course is a job oriented one which enhances skill.
But what is its input requirement 8th or 10th Pass?
This is a welcome development in that region. Anybody interested can learn it in Kendrapada. No need to stay away from home and work under a skilled worker in Delhi or Bangalore.

Good to note that our CM is promising his words by establishing SIPM at Pattamundai.
I personally feel, CM is always ignored his constituency and his district too on various development programs…this is the right example which Mr. Abhisek has pointed. Once this gems and jewellery training institute is established at Hinjilicut, it will be a boom for this region as it is their known skill since few generations. Also this will stop migration of people as large numbers of artisans from Ganjam district, who are engaged in cutting and fining gem stones in far away at Mumbai and Surat.
Our CM has written earlier few letters to Central Commerce Minister demanding to set up a Gems and Jewellery Training Institute in the State. Refer the below link for more details. http://www.orissalinks.com/archives/346
Also there is no news about Gitanjali group which was planning for a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the state. Refer the link below. Geetanjali gems and minerals proposes an SEZ in Orissa: http://www.orissa links.com/orissagrowth/archives/1613

Ask a civil engineer if he can fix a bursting pipe. The answer is probably no. However, Institutes like SIPM will equip students with the skills that are required in our every day life. This is indeed an important step in the right direction. We should include apprentiships in schools also.
