Orissa in the 2009-10 interim Railway budget
Railway Budget 2009 February 13th. 2009, 3:58amUpdate: A new train and another frequency increase may be in the offing. They are:
- Increased frequency of Vizag-Hzt Nizamuddin Samata Express that goes via Rayagada and Titlagarh.

New Trains:
- Koraput-Rourkela Express via Rayagada (daily)
- Kolkata-Gandhidham Superfast Express (weekly) [Will it be via Rourkela – Jharsuguda?]
Increase in frequency:
- 2443/2444 New Delhi – Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express (from 2 days to 4 days) Last year 2421/2422 New Delhi – Bhubaneswar Rajdhani express frequency was increased from 2 days to 3 days. So when this years proposed frequency increase is implemented there will be a Rajdhani between Bhubaneswar and New Delhi every day of the week.
- 2887/2888 Howrah-Puri express from weekly to Bi-weekly

After the implementation of this years
plans the frequencies of the Rajdhanis connecting various state
capitals (and Jammu and Bilaspur) will be as follows:
Howrah and Sealdah – 14 per week
Mumbai – 14 per week
Rajendranagar and Patna – 14+ per week
Guwahati – 10 per week
Secunderabad and Kacheguda – 8 per week
Ahmedabad – 7 per week
Bhubaneswar – 7 per week
Jammu – 7 per week
Bangalore – 7 per week
Ranchi – 3 per week
Thiruvananthapuram – 3 per week
Bilaspur – 2 per week
Chennai – 2 per week
Bhopal – 12 per week (the ones connecting Bilaspur, Secunderabad,
Chennai, Bangalore)
Jaipur – 7 per week (the ones connecting Ahmedabad)
Madagon – 3 per week (the ones connecting Thiruvananthapuram)
Lucknow – 3+ per week (2435/36)

Some State capitals are also connected to Delhi via Shatabdis. Their frequency is as follows:
Bhopal – 7 per week
Lucknow – 7 per week
Chandigarh – 14 per week
Jaipur – 6 per week

Following the logic of connecting religious places, the following connections, if demanded may have a good chance.
1. Puri – Jammu (For Vaishno Devi; which is 61 km from Jammu.
For Dharmasala; which is 90 kms from Pathankot on that road)
2. Puri – Gandhidham Express
3. Puri – Amritsar (Or increase of the Vizag – Amritsar frequency)
