The Six Congress MPs from Orissa; their potential to become central ministers
Elections 2009 May 16th. 2009, 4:48pmThe six Congress MPs from Orissa are:
- Sanjay Bhoi from Bargarh
- Hemanand Biswal from Sundergarh (he defeated Jual Oram)
- Amarnath Pradhan from Sambalpur (he defeated Rohit Pujari)
- Srikant Jena from Balasore
- Bhakta Das from Kalahandi
- Pradeep Majhi from Nabarangpur
Sanjay Bhoi is considered a young leader. Hemanad Biswal is a tribal and was CM of Orissa before and the fact that he defeated a BJP national level official further increases his stature. Amarnath Pradhan has been a minster in Orissa. His nomination forced Rohit Pujari to quit Congress and join BJD and run against him. Srikant Jena has been a cabinet minister in the center. Bhakta Das has been a state minister in the center. I don’t know much about Pradeep Majhi. (Update: There is a profile article on Pradeep Majhi in http://www.breakingnewsonline.net/2009/05/youth-power-indian-youth-congress.html. and another one in http://news4u.co.in/?p=9577. He is 32 years old and a youth Congress leader.)
Based on the above, one (or hopefully both) of Hemanand Biswal and Srikant Jena may become a cabinet minister in Delhi. Bhakta Das has a good chance of becoming a minister in Delhi.

In my opinion BJD should suppport UPA at the center. Pepole of orissa voted BJD canditate bcoz orissa is neglected and they can demand more for orissa at the center. Here is the chance for BJD
to support UPA and get some minister posts, fulfill the demands of the state as there could be total of 20 MPs(BJD+Cong)at the center from Orissa.
The decission of BJD not to join UPA could neglect the demands of Orissa. This decission of Naveen suerly hurting some pepole of Orissa, bcoz they are lossing the chance.

Yes, Pradyumna is right and I support his idea. Naveen should demand special status to Odisha as like Nitish and join the UPA government subsequently.

By not siding with either UPA and NDA, BJD has proven that it may still win in Orissa but it is detrimental to Orissa’s interests. Third Front has come a cropper across India and the situation is not likely to change in the future. Time has come for the National Parties. In this scenario if BJD is not in any of these groups Orissa will get least benifit from the centre. So, it will be prudent if BJD gives either a conditional support to UPA or makes up its mind for a future alliance with NDA sothat at least we have some hope for the future if not now. As a first step in this direction BJD should take NCP ministers in the State giving a clear indication that at least it is in alliance with one of the UPA partners in the State and try to take its advantage from the centre. The logical second step should be to sideline CPI and CPM in Orissa, so that the message is claer that BJD is no longer with the Third Front.

Sanjay Bhoi is a useless idiot, got elected by chance. He is a unqualified person got a programmer job in USIT by his uncle J.Bhoi. He was always known as a useless fellow. I am cent percent sure, he can not do anything for the country. I dont know how Congress nominated him.

I am really sorry for the remark about Sanjay Bhoi. Since he could not helped me for some reason, I was angry. I beg pardon. If given chance to Sanjay, he can do wonders. He is educated and a very good person from heart. He hust needs to learn policitics, which he willlearn soon. My blessing are with him..
