It has also been decided to increase the frequency of 2880/2879 Bhubaneswar-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) Super Fast Express from weekly to bi-weekly w.e.f 18th February 2010 from Bhubaneswar on every Monday & Thursday and w.e.f 20th February 2010 from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) on every Wednesday & Saturday.
The composition of this train has been increased from 16 coaches to 22 coaches. The train will now run with its new composition i.e. One AC-2 tier, Three AC-3 tier, 11 Sleeper Class, Four General Second Class Coaches, Two Guard cum luggage van and one Pantry Car. The scheduled timings and stoppages for this train at different places will remain unchanged.
In regards to the 2879/80 BBS-LTT, as we wrote in http://www.orissalinks.com/orissagrowth/archives/2543, although the frequency was announced to be biweekly in 2008-2009 budget, when it was initially implemented it was implemented as a weekly train. Finally it is becoming biweekly. Note that in the 2009-2010 Rail budget and in November 2009 time table there was an announcement for a 2745/2746 Puri-LTT weekly express. That is yet to be implemented. It should get implemented before the next budget.

At last we got it
but it should be a daily train as per the budget declaration as most of the exams are held on sundays in Bhubaneswar

Good that the train announced months ago is finally on the tracks but is this something to be satisfied about. The train could have served better and served more districts of the state if instead of terminating it at Bhubaneswar, like every other train, it would have been extended up to Berhampur. Now, suppose the trains extended from Visakhapatnam are terminated at Berhampur; won’t it affect the passengers in other districts? Similarly, stopping all the trains at Bhubaneswar only because it is the capital city and assuming that other towns of Orissa just at a few hours distance don’t need the service is unfair, especially when even not one train is there between Berhampur and Rourkela. While all other states run their respective Sampark Kranti Express trains up to the last tip of their state; Orissa is an exception, again the train terminating at Bhubaneswar. Is this not something illogical?

Intercity was decorated like a bride leaving for her husband’s home
Enjoyed the moment a lot

I agree with Abhishek. We need a train that connects RKL with Berhampur directly and daily. There are many options but i have 3 in mind.Extend Orissa Sampark Kranti to Berhampur and run it via keojhar Rourkela hatia on any 3 days.Rest of 3 days can be taken care by Hirakud express on the same route. Finally start an overnite express via keonjhar CKP.This way RKL will be connected to Berahmpur as well as we get a new train to Delhi which we deperately need.Same benifit will go to Berhampur

i agree with Alok
and Abhishek ,it is not possible for a train to go to Brahmapur and return the same day. HENCE ITS BETTER to have an OVERNITE express train between ROU and BAM

I strongly support abhisekh view. There should be a overnite train between rkl nd bm.

Do any rourkela inhabitants know there is Fast-passenger train running over nite from Chakradharpur to Howrah. It leaves CKP at 1710 Hrs and reaches Howrah at 0420 Hrs. The fare for sleeper class is only Rs. 121/- which if extended to Rourkela will cost another 10 rupees more, say around Rs. 131/- . For the students appearing the enterance exams and other poor people can avail the low fare benefits. the same fast-passenger returns from Howrah at 2305 Hrs and reaches Chakradharpur at 0930 hrs. Interestingly the said Fast-passenger train also has a AC-3 Tier coach whose fare is Rs.522/- only. Moreover, the train runs daily too.
I would request all the inhabitants of Rourkela to take up the noble cause of extending the said train to Rourkela in the interest of all the poor people and the poor students in particular.

Since the people of Berhampur or say, ganjam are more from the labour class stayed put at rourkela for more than two generations, it would be much better if the Tri weekly Garib Rath Express train is extended from Bhubaneswar to Berhampur. Hope this will take care of the Ganjam people. The train can ideally will be a train from the Northwest Orissa to Southeast Orissa.

The people of Bhadrakh,Balasore, jajpur districts can be benefited if the UTKAL Express is re-routed through Keonjhar-Chainbasa-Chakradharpur instead of going round through Kharagpur and Tata. The distance from Puri and Haridwar will be significantly reduced and precious time saved.
The people of Rourkela,Charadharpur Keonjhar will find it convenient to connect Bhubaneswar easily. moreover the inhabitants of Rourkela find another alternative route to Bhubaneswar and that too can be adjusted to an overnite journey which can leave Rourkela at around 2130 hrs and reach Cuttack and Bhubaneswar at early morning. our cuttack passengers can compensate the non going Intercity train from Roukela.
Regards, Kaushal.
