Thats a good effort from our MPs. Two reservations. one what about other party MPs? Are they not elected by Odia people? Second, what about he medical college at Bhunaneswar, as declared in the budget.
RVNL has recently (11th Aug 2010) initiated the construction of Angul-Sukinda Road newline project by inviting tenders for the construction of bridges across river Brahmani and Rengali left main canal. The final lay-out of the project has been, of course, relocated between Talcher Road and Baghuapal stations.
Tendered Value Rs. 85.13 Crores.
It seems that the Khurda Road-Bolangir newline project has been handed over to RVNL; considering the possible economic viability of the project. Thus, it appears that, the status of the project has been changed from “Socially Desiable Project” to “Economically Viable Project”. Here is an excerpt from “Rajya Sabha” discussions on 20th August 2010. Please comment on its implications.
SHRI PYARIMOHAN MOHAPATRA: Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:
(a) whether Khurda-Bolangir railway line sanctioned two decades ago has not progressed much due to differing stand of Railways from time to time and if so, the details thereof;
(b) the sanction of funds for the project and expenditure incurred against those sanctions, year-wise, and the reasons for
shortfall, if any;
(c) the reasons for changing the criteria of the project from a socially useful project for opening up backward areas to one with
economic viability; and
(d) the reasons for shifting the project to Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and the revised schedule of its completion?

That question is in the list of questions to be answered on 20th August 2010. See http://164.100.47.5/EDAILYQUESTIONS/sessionno/220/3789RS.pdf . It is not 20th August yet. Lets see what the response is. From http://www.rvnl.org/project/projects-in-progress.php Khurda-Balangir is not yet listed in the RVNL page.
