Another setback. what our MPs are doing at Delhi? Pity on them. I was astonished when I saw a statement of Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahatab stating that why the east hostel of Ravenshaw College should be converted into a ladies hostel even after 60% of the student strength are girls. It seemed illogical to him that the university authorities want to manage the space in the best possible manner.
I strongly feel that our MPs from all political parties are just good for nothing. I have heard Mr. Mahatab declaring from a public meeting that he is trying his level best to get the grant from GOI for a flyover from Madhupatana to Buxy bazar at Cuttack. Even this plan does not exist in the new master plan made by IIT Khadagpur.
Earlier there was misconception that Mr. Khagapati Pradhani ex-MP, Nabarangpur and Giridhar Gamango, ex-MP Koraput have done nothing for the area or the state although elected uninterruptedly for 8/9 terms. But what has Prasanna Patsani has done for Bhubaneswar and Orissa. so also Bhartruhari Mahatab. The list is long.
Our MPs can only stand holding placards at the entrance of the Parliament just to get the attention of Jairam Ramesh and fortunately he ignores that.
Mamata Banerjee in her unique way has always reiterated that all the railway projects should not be evaluated from the economic viability point of view. Why don’t our MPs make a audible sound in the Parliament. Why they can’t mass resign so as to create an impact on th central government. there may be hundreds of ways to do the things. This one of them. We are very week at Delhi representation.
The confrontanist attitude which the BJD has towards the UPA Govt, could be politically correct for the Party but Orissa is paying havily for this. In the second term of UPA not a single important project has been sanctioned for Orissa. Alternatively, the POSCO, Vedanta Aluminium and Vedanta University Projects have been pushed to a state of virtual closure. The Dhamra Port and other such projects are likely to face similar fate. All this while the Polavaram, Vamsadhara and MahendraTanaya projects are being allowed to be taken up by AP Govt. BBSR airport, international standard railway terminal, Tribal University, IIIT, Khurda-Balangir Railway line have all suffered setbacks. So, BJD’s high voltage anti-Congress campaigns and Centre bashings are taking Orissa no where.
