Definitely very impressive. I had to google Bhanjanagar since I did not know where Bhanjanagar is situated! I wish more cities in Odisha took the lead in having parks within their periphery. Parks not only serve people living around them but also tourists visiting the respective city. The other thing the picture tells me is that we need to make an effort to preserve our water bodies.
We need to think more deeply about urban planning. Today we are in a situation in which most of us in India depend on real estate developers for providing us with recreational facilities. Why can’t the city administration take the lead in providing a such facilities? No wonder year after year there is no Indian city in the list of the best cities in the world to live in. Is it not strange that as we announce to the world that we have arrived that none of our cities are anywhere close to even starting out in the race! What we have today in most cities are versions of gated communities, apartment communities outside whose gates are potholed roads with perpetual construction activity.
It is in such a situation that I feel cities in Orissa can take the lead in developing more liveable cities. We can develop cities that are different from those we see in other places in India. Rather than being clones of our bigger cities Odisha’s cities should be great places to live and work in. Naveen Patnaik, the current chief minister, did announce something significant in that direction when he said he would like to see 50 parks in Bhubaneswar (I hope I got the figure right). I would definitely like to see Orissalinks/Progressive people from Orissa campaign in right earnest for such issues. (Parks & Recreation facilities/ Sustainable Mass Transport – see http://www.embarq.org for ideas). If we don’t think about such issues as we are growing we might never have an opportunity to do so at a later stage. Just as other cities in India are discovering it might be too late or a case of too costly.

BhanjaNagar is a sub-division in Ganjam and a beautiful town. Thanks for info on this sleepy town. As the birth place of Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja and as the ancestral birth place of Biju Patnaik family BhanjaNagar carries special significance in Orissa. But, this place has no railway and highway connectivity till now. Only the proposed Berhampu-Sambalpur railway line may bring some development to this area.
That park is developed few years back and holds some special memories with family & friends.. I love taking a long walk on the bridge a 1.5 km stretch i believe..One of the best spots one can in BNJR..Besides the temples.. and others in and around the town..
