…..Seemingly a ploy to create infighting, first Bhubaneswar vs Kalahandi and then Kalahandi vs Kantabanji, Kantabanji vs Chatrapur and so on. Eventually Odisha will get nothing, as it always happens.
This is a promise which any other state Govt would have welcomed. If the Railway Minister herself is ready for a wagon factory at Chhatrapur without shelving the Kalahandi proposal and is still open to it, it should only be praised instead of trying to raed too much into it. 80 kms of railway line out of 2800 kms in Orissa; that is all what Ganjam has as railway infrastructure. Besides this 80 Kms, there is no ongoing railway project worth the mention. A District which has close to 10% population share of Orissa has got less than 3% of the railway line. So,if Ganjam, a district with high intensity of labour migration, poor industrial base with no central PSU around, gets a railway factory it is a positive development. More so, if that doesn’t hamper the prospects of another place.

If Orissa gets wagon factories at Chatrapur and Kalahandi, as mentioned, then this will be the best news of the year on infrastructure front.
