A New Delhi based private aviation service company, Global Avianautics Limited (GAL) introduced non-scheduled air transport operation from Rangeilunda airstrip here to Bhubaneswar pressing into service a six seater (two pilots and four passengers) twin engine aircraft. Ganjam district collector V K Pandian launched the service. Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company O P Suri was present on the occasion.GAL is now operating the Government Aviation Training Institute (GAIT), Bhubaneswar. … The operation from Rangeilunda to Bhubneswar would be held on the basis of availability of passengers. Since GAL has acquired licence from Director General Civil Aviation (DGCA) for non-scheduled air transport operation, the company can operate to any place in the state within a radius of 600 km where airstrip facilities are available, Chief Manager of the GAIT, P. Chakravarti said. … The non-scheduled air transport service from Rangeilunda would pave way for a full-fledge airport in future, said local MLA (Gopalpur) Pradeep Kumar Panigrahi.Meanwhile, Road and Building, Division-II, Berhampur has prepared an estimated Rs 27.29-crore plan for development of Rangeilunda airstrip.

Now it is hard time for the concerned Management to have a critical decision for a remote terminal (with Bus service) for the Bhubaneswar airport must be established in Berhampur so that passengers can check-in and take a bus to reach the Bhubaneswar airport.

Jet Airways increases flights to Orissa
With passenger growth of over 20 per cent over the previous years Jet Airways has increased frequency of its domestic services to Orissa connecting Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai and Raipur to Bhubaneshwar. This is in addition to the existing twice-daily schedule from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata. As per a New Indian Express report the additional services are the result of the discussions held between GMR Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamsadabad, Hyderabad and Travel Agents Association of Orissa (TAAO) last November to offer additional benefits and world class facilities for passengers travelling from Orissa to various destinations via Hyderabad airport.
Jet Airways and GMR Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, in collaboration with Andhra Pradesh Tourism, had invited IATA agents to have first hand knowledge about the services and facilities available at the GMR airport, Hyderabad. The Association requested GMR airport to negotiate with domestic and international airlines operating from Hyderabad to offer special airfare for passengers travelling from Orissa to domestic and international destinations.” said Benjamin Simon, President, Travel Agents Association of Orissa.
Passengers can avail of two to eight hours of flexible accommodation at the airport Plaza Premium Lounge, as well as at Novotel located 10 minutes from the airport at minimum cost ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,500 inclusive of a meal. Besides, passengers can get a massage therapy with price staring from Rs 650 to Rs 2,500 and Internet usage, photo copy and print out at a minimum cost. “There is no need for any passengers to wait for check in once they land at Hyderabad with interline connections. The special staff and respective airlines at GMR Rajiv Gandhi International Airport will ensure check in for passengers and provide seamless travelling experience at the terminal,” Simon added.
