When is the last time Congress Party made any Orissa leader a Union cabinet Minister? Even a leader like Nandini Sathpathy was a Minister of State. It seems Congress central leaders don’t take orissa and its leaders seriously. Even now there is one MOS from Orissa in the Union and that to the person was a cabinet Minister in the past. Karnataka has also sent 6 Congress MPs like Orissa, but has 5 Ministers in the Union council of Ministers. It’s disgusting and offensive.
For the current situation of Odisha congress in centre, the state party leadership itself has to be blamed. While they don’t have a strong leader at state level to hold the party together, they indulge in groupism inside the party itself and that’s why they can’t have a strong voice at the centre. Even Srikant Jena shoud be ashamed of himself as he has accepted a minister of state role and continues to stay in the same position with 3rd yr of UPA II although he has the experience of being a cabinet minister earlier. Even though Naveen pattnaik govt holds majority at state, at the same time we need an opposition which could create positive criticism in major issues. But none of the opposition parties have that.
